Capital MTB - About

New York State Capital Region Mountain Biking Connection

[edit] About Capital MTB

Our main purpose is to advocate and promote mountain biking in the New York State Capital Region and beyond. The network riders is a loosely affiliated "grass-roots" group, both men and women, but all MTBr's. While some of us are members of actual biking clubs in the area, membership in one of these clubs is not required to be included in Capital MTB Rides list. It is strongly recommended that if you are going to lead and/or organize a ride using our list, you be a member of MHCC or SMBA or both. MHCC offers liability coverage for ride leaders on official Club rides. SMBA allows you to legally ride their trail system in Saratoga with other SMBA members.

Mostly this is a "friends riding with friends" concept. So, bottom line, we are all on the honor system. You and only you can be responsible for your own safety while riding your bike, whether with a group or on your own. Use common sense and ride within your ability level. It is great to push the envelope, however you, as a MTB rider, must understand that if (when) you injure yourself, no one else is to blame for your misfortune. We will all be supportive of you in your recovery from injury, and give you props for your battle scars. The moment that someone sues for any injury incurred while riding on any one of these rides listed here is the day that it will all come crashing down.

[edit] About The Rides

We are a group of MTBr's who are always looking for new and exciting places to check out and ride, so if you have a favorite trail somewhere in the Capital region/upstate NY area, and would like to have some company out on a ride to show some of us around, post a message to the Forum.

Also, there are currently rides throughout the year, generally on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. If you would like to be part of this growing community of bikers, and would like to see more rides offered than our "regulars", please let us know if you'd be willing to organize one and be there to ride with anyone else who shows up.

[edit] Get Involved

There are lots of different ways to be involved in what is going on here. Organizing rides is only one of them. Tell people about this list and spread the word. We also do trail maintenance and building days. We need volunteers to help with the annual Festival at Grafton in July. We will be looking for people to help out with Winterfest in Grafton this coming January, when we take to the snow and ice with studded tires!

Get involved and most of all. . . .

I am soooo fake pre-loading this image so the navigation doesn*t skip while loading the over state. I know I could use the sliding doors technique to avoid this fate, but I am too lazy.
